Holiday Inn Fredericton relaunches as the Riverside Resort & Conference Centre
to rebrand as a resort destination
Fredericton, NB (August 14, 2008) - The Riverside Resort & Conference Centre, formerly the
Holiday Inn Fredericton, announced today that it has left the Holiday Inn chain and is now
operating as an independent property.
Fredericton's only resort and conference centre, the property is located in the heart
of Mactaquac Country, 12 kilometers west of Fredericton on the banks of the Saint John River,
offering scenic views and access to outdoor adventures.
According to Trevor Morgan, regional vice president for SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts,
the hotel was originally built in 1992 near the TransCanada highway. Today, with the TransCanada
Highway moved, the traffic pattern has changed, which has made the area more of a destination.
"We are in a resort setting - just out of town in a beautiful location on the Saint John
River and it was time to focus on branding ourselves as a destination resort and becoming
an independent property will allow us to do that," Morgan says.
The Riverside Resort & Conference Centre is situated on 35 acres, has 82 rooms including
six private cottages, and conference or event facilities for up to 125. In addition to its
amenities, including a pool and tennis courts it also offers year-round recreational activities,
such as a championship golf course five minutes away, convenient ski hill access, hiking
trails and fishing excursions. There is also a dock where visitors can moor their boats
while they visit.
At this point, there are no plans for renovations beyond signage changes. The staff will
not change, nor will its commitment to service excellence and to the community. The resort
will remain committed to community stewardship in a number of ways, including continuing
to host the annual Feast in the Field, an annual event that features the region's best food
and wine with proceeds going to the Canadian Paraplegic Association.
"We're excited about the future," Morgan says. "We are in a spectacular location - an
ideal location for a corporate retreat, a wedding or a family vacation. Our goal is to spread
the word and encourage people to come rediscover the resort."
